Thanks to my mother, I’ve had women like Marilyn Monroe and Betty Page to look up to since I was a little girl. But now I have questions. Where were all of the brown pin ups for me to look up to? With age I realized that this was no fault of my mothers but the fault of Hollywood, surprise surprise. African American pin up models weren’t favorable or considered charming back in the 1950’s. As all of you know we’re in the second week of spring and finally starting to get a glimpse of hope on the forecast. This long awaited 60º weather has everybody hype, especially me!
Keeping my mind on the soon to be weather inspired me to put together this outfit. Yes, ironically enough I look like I cliff dived into Ace Ventura’s wardrobe; and it’s safe to say that I am unapologetically ROCKING IT.
Spring is in the air people and it’s time to show up and out regardless of if it’s still 30 degrees out, lol. I’m honestly so ready for warm weather that it’s all I can think about so I figured why not put that energy out into the air?
Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone has been enjoying this beautiful weather we’ve been having; it’s finally starting to feel like spring. The energy of the whole city shifts – there truly is a power in witnessing the rebirth of flowers. Carolyn and I made sure we were stopping every couple of blocks to take pictures of all of the blossoming little buds 🙂 Continue reading “Concrete Garden”
Some of you may know that your girl is now an official college graduate and back in the Philadelphia area, hollaaa! So of course that called for a new blog post! But with that being said I had to find a photographer in Philadelphia who’d be willing to work with me.
Luckily, I had the pleasure of being introduced to the Queen, Carolyn Valentin-Flores (@graphicfemale) upon arrival, all thanks to a mutual friend!
Good looks Ashley!
Carolyn has been practicing her craft for a few years now and is only striving to further her growth over the coming year. Not only did we have the opportunity to share our ideas but we also shared our energies, aspirations and goals for the future. There is no greater feeling than meeting someone who is on the same wavelength as you. I think we can all agree that this feeling isn’t particularly easy to come by.
